Star STEAM Teaching at Arecibo

El pasado 4 de agosto de 2018, tuve la oportunidad de participar en un taller de educación en ciencias en el Observatorio de Arecibo!! Llamado STEAM Teaching at Arecibo (STAR).   Fue una experiencia espectacular y enriquecedora!! donde maestros y educadores en el hogar,  trabajamos en cómo enseñar ciencias de una forma divertida e interesante!!   Específicamente Astronomía y Ciencias espaciales!!  Justo antes del comienzo de nuestro nuevo año de educación en casa, y que precisamente,  comenzaría con una unidad de estudio en Astronomía!!

    Trabajamos: 

• Súper organismo, -  Super Organisms
• Cohete,  -  Stomp Rockets
• Aumento en el nivel del mar  -  Rising sea
• Sistema solar de bolsillo  - Pocket Solar System

On August 4, 2018, I had the opportunity to participate in a science education workshop at the Arecibo Observatory !! Call STEAM Teaching at Arecibo (STAR). It was a spectacular and enriching experience !! where teachers and homeschoolers, work on how to teach science in a fun and interesting way! Specifically Astronomy and Space Science! Just before the start of our new homeschool year!! and precisely, I would start with a unit of study in Astronomy!    Priceless!!

Biología … / Biology

La princesa grande, en biología ha estado trabajando con reinos y taxonomía… ahora, ha comenzado, luego de haber trabajado los grupos y sus caracteristicas, y habiendo trabajado con la nomenclatura de los taxones…. (gracias Jeannette!!), está investigando por cartelón la taxonimía, en este caso, de los invertebrados…..  //  Big princess, in biology has been working with kingdoms and taxonomy ... now, has begun, after having worked the groups and their characteristics, and having worked with the nomenclature of taxones .... (Thanks Jeannette !!), She’s investigating by charts the taxonomy, in this case, the invertebrates ... ..

Entre el cartelón, libros y Wikipedia hace su investigación de un animal elegido del cartelón!!  Súper interesante la misma y mi princesa muy motivada!!.   //  Among the poster, books and Wikipedia does her research of a chosen animal from the poster!! Super interesting the same and my princess it;s very motivated !!.

Botánica / Botany

La princesita en su estudio de botánica!!!  Estuvimos estudiando la planta, sus partes, diferentes tipos de plantas, con la nomenclatura, el gabinete, …. y ella ha estado muy motivada y ha utilizado el libro “Explorer Extraordinaire!” de Fancy Nancy, para al igual que ella, hacerse una experta en botánica!!! //  Little princess in her botanical study !!! We were studying the plant, its parts, different types of plants, with the nomenclature, the cabinet, .... And she has been very motivated and has used the book "Explorer Extraordinaire!" By Fancy Nancy, just like her, to become an expert in botany !!!

Aquí en uno de los experimentos de mi guia…. dónde se prepran cuatro ambientes para unas habichuelas…. Sin calor, sin luz, sin agua y recibe todo…  /  Here in one of the experiments of my guide .... Where four escenarios are prepared for some beans .... Without heat, without light, (this two was placed on the refrigerator), without water and receive everything ...

La princesa grande se emocionó, pues recordaba la unidad, y no pudo evitar acercarse!!!LOL  //  Big princess was excited, remembering the unit, and could not avoid… she gets closer !!!LOL

Comparando con unas hojas que hace tieeeempo mi amiguita Stephanie nos envió!!!  //  Comparing with some leaves that makes my friends Stephanie sent me long time agooo !!!

Que creen!!??  Esta fue la semilla que recibió todo!!!! //  Guess what!!??… this was the bean that received everything!!

Nidito que nos dejaron unas hermosas reinitas en nuestra terraza!!!  //  This beautiful nest, left behind by some cute little birds… that we called “reinitas”! (don’t know how translate that)LOL

Y como buena exploradora, se dedicó a estudiar las diferentes hojas en nuestro patio, pues no es la realidad con la nomenclatura….  //  And as a good explorer, she devoted herself to studying the different leaves in our backyard, because it is not our reality with the nomenclature ....

 

Interesante mañana donde disfrutamos de un hermoso tiempo de investigación en nuestro ambiente extendido…. nuestro patio!!  //  Interesting morning where we enjoyed a beautiful time of investigation in our extended environment .... Our backyard !!

El Microscopio // The Microscope

 

La investigación, el descubrir y explorar son de las cosas más emocionantes para mis chicas!!  Asi que como hemos estado trabajando con cositas muuuy pequeñas….adivinen qué?….. Tenemos un plus en nuestro ambiente!!! Un microscopio!!! Uff que emoción para ellas…..ahora todo hay que observarlos muy bien!!! LOL

Research, discovery and exploration are among the most exciting things for my girls !! So as we have been working with things soooo small things and talked about it… ... guess what? ... .. We have a plus in our environment !!! A microscope !!! Uff what an emotion for them ... .. now everything has to be observed very well !!! LOL

La princesita pequeña, trabajó las partes del microscopio y preparó su librito.

Little princess worked with the parts of Microscope and prepared a booklet!

HIstoria del Microscopio (tipo linea del tiempo) La princesa grande, trabajó esta linea, e hizo un dibujo en su libreta enumerando sus partes con definiciones……

Microscope history its more like a time line.  Big princess worked this and draw a Microscope on her notebook in order to identify the microscope parts.

Dias de Escuela / School Days

Me siento que tengo un mundo que contar y compartir!!! Súper desconectada!!, a veces veo unos blogs tan y tan espectaculares, y me pregunto…. hummmm….. cómo pueden??!!  Mi realidad ha cambiado un poco!!LOL a veces, simplemente, no me alcanza el tiempo…, material por hacer(Oh Dios!! tengo tanto!!!), la casa, las clases extracurriculares…. en fin…. ay (momento de desahogo!!)LOL

Voy a comenzar varias publicaciones, hoy estoy comenzando por cositas “viejas”!!

I feel I have a world to tell and share !!! Completely off !!, sometimes I see some blogs so and so spectacular, and I wonder .... hmmm ... .. how they can ?? !! My reality has changed a bit !! LOL sometimes simply do not any time ... a have a LOT material to do (Oh God !! I have so much !!!), the house, extracurricular classes .... anyway…. ay (sorry for my moment of relief confessions!!) LOL

I will start several publications, …today I'm starting with the Old ones!

La Princesa grande, estuvo trabajando con Europa.  Identificó los paises en el mapa, y registró en su libreta, banderas, capitales, lugares de interés entre otros.

Big Princes had an Europe investigation!! She labeled the map, register on her notebook Countries, flags, landmarks and other interesting things about them.!!

Estudio avanzado, de Vivos no Vivos, para pasar a los Dominios….(muestro esas en la próxima publicación)!

Advances studies of Living and NO living, to pass for the Domains,…. I will show those on next post.!!

En Math estamos vareando los materiales, en ésta, Gabinete de Cuentas…. hasta llegar al Binómio x Binómio!! Le encantó.   //  We change a bit how to works math, we random the material, in order to have every week fun!! not to stay on a material too much time in order she “burns” (if a Spanish expression!!LOL) On this post, she was working with the Complete Bead material or cabinet, and works binomial x binomial!! She just love it!!
